Gator's Chart of the Day: INTC

Intel?  Intel?  Yes, Intel.  I know, I can't believe it either.  It seems about as exciting as Mr. Softee but INTC is at a multi-year high.  The last time it closed up here was March 2004.  Is it extended?  Yes it's a long way down to the 200 day simple moving average but the 50 day is well inside the Bollinger bands and volume has been very good.

Intel is making significant progress with it's Medfield chip that is designed for smart phones and is just now being made available in quantities.  ZTE will be putting out smart phones with this chip in the second half of 2012 so those sales should begin showing up in the next quarter's earnings.  Lava will also be using Intel chips.  The Lava market is India and Africa so you may not have heard of them.  (I had not.)  Lenovo and Motorola are also using Intel chips in new phones yet to be revealed.

I did well with some May28 calls but I let them go too soon.  (Worden charting was down Tuesday so I sold and went to the golf course.)  I'll be looking to get back in.  I may start a small position tomorrow if I can get a decent entry.  If not I'll probably wait until after the Greek/French elections this weekend.  I might get a pullback to the 20 day sma if I'm patient.
