Evening Thread

Sector Rotation. 5 best performing sectors today. 1. AAPL. 2. Coal. (KOL) - which is a subset of XME. 3. XME. 4. MOO (I know baron bought this one this morning :) Anybody else? 5. XLB - materials sector. 6. RUT-X.

Coal - more beat up than even the XME. AAPL - not exactly beat up at all. MOO - nice.

Worst performer today, and the only one in the red today, was last quarter's star sector XHB - the homebuilders etf (unless we count AAPL and PCLN as separate sectors unto themselves, and some of us do.)

Monday Afternoon Thread

CBOE Daily Chart (11:00AM EDT)
CBOE broke out from a short volatility squeeze and above resistance on 3/19.  It closed outside the upper Bollinger band 5 consecutive days before pulling back to test the breakout.  It looks like it has done the test today and is working on a pretty green hammer.

Gator's Chart of the Day: ORLY
O'Reilly Automotive has been a strong performer since Thanksgiving and it could be argued that the run is done but I don't think so.  The stock is now in a volatility squeeze and Friday it printed a green candle on increased volume.  If it opens well it could move up outside the Bollinger bands for a couple of more days before slowing.  A stop just under the 20 day simple moving average makes this a low risk entry.
